Consent Script

Version 0.1 · For the listing firm — read it, paraphrase it, or hand it over, after declining the matter and before submitting anything. Then note in your file: date, how consent was given, and who gave it. Consent may be oral, written, or electronic.

The script

"We can't take your matter — but with your permission, we can post it where other verified lawyers look for cases they want. Here's exactly how that works:

What gets posted openly: the kind of case, which side you'd be on, the county, and our firm's name. Not your name, not your contact information, and no description of what happened — ever.

What stays sealed: your name and contact information. A licensed lawyer in good standing who wants a case like yours can unlock them — instantly, without asking anyone — and may then contact you directly.

What every lawyer in there has agreed to: unlock only if they intend to contact you; check for conflicts immediately, before contacting you; if they find a conflict, never contact you, delete your information, and make no use of it; and never use anything from the listing against you or anyone else.

The risks you should weigh: the lawyers who can see listings include lawyers who might later represent the other side of your matter. Sharing information outside a lawyer-client relationship can carry some risk to its confidentiality or to privilege. We won't be told who unlocks your listing, and no one reviews unlocks in advance.

You can change your mind at any time. Tell us, or use the removal form at clientfeeds.com, and the listing comes down. One limit: a lawyer who already unlocked it may still have your name and number — like an email that's already been sent.

This script covers what the Listing Terms require the person be told: the open and sealed tiers, direct contact, the adverse-representation possibility, the disclosure risks, the participating lawyers' undertakings, and the withdrawal limitation. If the person says anything qualifying their consent, don't submit — contact us instead.
